In Milan, Brixton unveiled an electric prototype it describes as a relaxed beach cruiser.
Several months after writing about Brixton's patent designs for an unusual electric bike, the Layback prototype made a splash at EICMA.
These drawings confirm that not only is the model the same, but the patent renderings were also accurate.
According to Brixton, the Layback's driving position resembles the surfing position of a surfer leaning over the back of his board, as its name suggests.
We just stick with what we see in this prototype, which is a very simple construction with a very low battery, an electric motor at the center of the rear wheel, a very nice front end with an inverted fork, a disc brake with two pistons, and a round lamp. Brixton does not mention any technical features in this prototype.
As always, what stands out is the same element that caught our attention the first time around: the hard tail rear part, with the shock absorber supporting the saddle!
As of now, there is no other information about the Layback, other than the fact that Brixton is taking it seriously, not just using it for publicity purposes. In addition, Layback already has a place on the company's website and a registration form for those interested in keeping up with its progress.
Brixton's first electric bike is coming and it's unlike anything else on the market.
