CFMoto 450SR unveiled SR-C21 concept shown at Eicma

A 450cc version of CFMoto's SR sportsbike has been added to its range based on the SR-C21 concept shown at Eicma 2021.

Some of the concept's most striking features have been watered down (or removed altogether), but the new baby sportsbike still looks good.

The concept's enormous Brembo front brakes have been replaced with a more realistic single disc - though the caliper remains Italian.

Additionally, the Hlins suspension has been replaced with less heavy-duty 37mm forks. As well as the concept's swanky single-sided swingarm, a utilitarian double-sided option is also available.

You get ultra-sporty bodywork with integrated but unnecessary aero, and a 450cc parallel-twin engine with 50bhp (which would require a limited licence for A2 license holders).

CF Moto told us back in 2021 that the model would be available for Chinese markets, so there's a good chance we won't see it here.

CFMoto revealed the new SR-C21 sportsbike concept at the Eicma trade show in Milan, showcasing their future track-focused intentions.

As the latest name to enter the Moto3 grand prix paddock, the Chinese bike firm unveiled its new motorcycle on November 23 after teasers since October.

According to a press release released on October 25, the sporty new arrival will be produced for the Chinese market in 2022, with 'C' standing for Concept and '21' marking the year of its debut.

What else does the SR have to offer? A parallel-twin engine of at least 400cc will power the bike.

While CFMoto won't reveal the exact size at this point, we expect a middleweight unit to compete against the Yamaha R7 and Honda CBR650R - with Hangzhou's firm having access to several twin-pot engines used in current KTMs.

The concept machine is littered with premium parts apart from the engine. There are four-piston Brembo radial calipers on the front of the bike, along with fully adjustable upside down forks from Ohlins. Also from the Italian company are a master cylinder and clutch lever.

To reduce weight and add a bit of noise, the SR is stripped of any road-going furniture like mirrors, reflectors, and numberplate housings. Two stubby silencers protrude from the rear of the bike.

It also features plenty of carbon fibre finery, such as jagged front winglets and a brake disc cover which may protect the rotors from debris.

Additionally, a colour TFT dash is mounted directly in front of the clip-on bars, below the top yoke for a more focused riding position, behind the tinted front screen.

The six-spoke rear wheel is highlighted by a single-sided swingarm. Pirelli Supercorsa tyres are also mounted on both rims.

CFMoto SR-C21 concept explored:

It's highly unlikely a finished bike will be adorned with all these premium parts, regardless of how cool this concept bike looks.

CFMoto is devoid of road-going necessities, adding to its good looks. Any road version will feature a long number plate bracket, plenty of reflectors, and a more subdued exhaust.

Due to a business partnership established between the Austrian brand and KTM in late 2017, the parallel-twin engine could be supplied by the Austrian brand.

The release of a sportsbike in 2021 wouldn't be complete without winglets. There are two sets on the SR-C21, one at the nose and one midway down the side fairing.

Europe bound? CFMoto says this concept will form a new model for the Chinese market, however it is unknown whether this will reach the European market.
