One of the world's most celebrated motorcycle designers is Pierre Terblanche, and the Ducati MH900E is one of his most celebrated creations. MH900Es are sought after all over the world, but as only 2,000 were built, finding one and affording one is difficult.
Gareth Roberts of London faced the same dilemma when he wanted to buy himself an MH900E, but he couldn't afford it. He took matters into his own hands, though, and built an MH900E of his own that was actually more beautiful than the original.
Roberts began by stripping down a used Ducati 900SS he bought used. Chassis is the first piece of the puzzle. A titanium trellis design mimics the MH900E's and is crafted by America's Stradafab. The chassis also features custom Ohlins suspension, 17-inch spoke wheels, and upside-down forks from a Ducati 899 Panigale.
The swingarm is from a Ducati S2R, and the forks are upside-down. Also, you'll appreciate the Brembo RCS master cylinder and M4 calipers, which enhance the motorcycle's safety.
It features a custom triple-tree and yoke, topped with carbon fiber clip-ons for an aggressive riding position. MotoGadget accessories such as a digi-analog instrument cluster, bar-end LED indicators, and keyless ignition complete this setup. As with the MH900E, the saddle is also a custom unit and does not take pills.
Despite all this, the motorcycle's bodywork is its crown jewel. From head to toe, it is made entirely from carbon fiber and features subtle graphics in Ducati's old-school font displayed in a breezy blue finish. Additionally, the "Superlite" name comes from the fact that the body is quite light.
Last but not least, the engine is an 864cc L-twin. There is a carbon clutch cover, high-performance clutch plates, and most importantly, a titanium full-system exhaust, so it's obviously not stock. Due to this, the custom MH900E should produce more horsepower than the real thing.
It's possible! Gareth built the entire thing over three years, and he is finally ready to let it go after keeping it to himself for so long. BikeShed Classifieds has it for just $42,000, but you'll have to figure out freight since the motorcycle is currently located in London. However, if you can arrange the cash and arrange shipping, this is easily one of the most beautiful Ducatis in the world.
