Harley-Davidson has long been the leader in the cruiser segment, and it has fended off several competitors. The MBP C1002V cruiser has been introduced at the EICMA by Keeway, which is a new player in town for 2023. The Italian motorcycle might have an odd name, but it's a capable cruiser that could very well displace the popular American motorcycle.
Design-wise, the Keeway C1002V has a lot to offer. With its blacked-out mechanicals, long fuel tank, and beefy proportions, it is a handsome motorcycle, while the tail section adds a touch of sportiness.
A 5-inch rectangular TFT display is equipped with all-LED lighting, a USB type-A port, switchable engine maps, and cruise control, among other features. Furthermore, the instrument cluster shows smartphone notifications and is Bluetooth-enabled. Geolocation and remote boot unlock are also app-based features.
To get down to the juicy details, the Keeway C1002V is powered by a 997cc, 80-degree V-twin engine (hence, the 2V in its name) that produces 94 horsepower. With a six-speed gearbox, the C1002V is able to reach a top speed of 124 mph, according to Keeway. With 18-inch wheels and KYB upside-down forks at the front, the bike's underpinnings are comprised of KYB upside-down forks.
Both ends of the latter are equipped with J.Juan brakes, which wear 130/240-section rubber (F/R). All of this is topped off by a comfortable riding triangle, thanks to feet-forward pegs, a low seat, and a swept-back handlebar.
Keeway C1002V vs Harley-Davidson Nightster - Quick Comparison.
From the specs, the C1002V appears to be a direct competitor of the Harley-Davidson Nightster. Harley's newest Sportster uses a 975cc, V-twin engine that produces 89 horsepower, five less than the Keeway. In addition, the Nightster has a single disc up front and telescopic forks, so it's less premium than the Italian cruiser.
In any case, the decisive factor will be whether you can trust a Chinese-owned company that's relatively new to the game, especially over a long-established brand like Harley-Davidson.
