Rebel cruiser range grows with CMX1100T bagger model

Honda's CMX Rebel

New to Honda's CMX Rebel range is a touring model with luggage and a subtle half fairing wrapped around the upright bars.

It comes in 'Gunmetal Black Metallic' and shares the diamond chassis, 700mm seat height, and Africa Twin-derived 1084cc 8v parallel twin engine with the standard 1100.

During Honda's press conference at the Eicma trade show, the new model uses a 270° crank to mimic a V-twin sound. The Euro5-friendly engine produces a modest 85.3bhp, while the peanut fuel tank sloshes above the low riders' seat.

New minimalist half fairing sits high on the conventional forks and wraps around the upright bars to deliver a slice of faux Americana and a profile similar to Harley-Davidson's £19,995 Low Rider ST.

There's no price on the CMX1100T, but it's going to be cheaper than the 102bhp Harley - so it'll be easier to swallow.

A small flyscreen wraps around the LED headlight in the front bodywork.

Besides the front end, there are also hard panniers with hinged top lids that offer 35 liters of storage.

As compared to the nyln accessory saddle bags available for the standard Rebel, there are 16-litres to the right and 19-litres to the left. Low-slung twin-exit exhaust can be accommodated in the smaller bag.

As a result of the additional features, the T weighs more than the standard model. With Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), the Rebel weighs 223kg and climbs by 10kg.

Tourer starts at 238kg and jumps to 248kg - a lot of weight for an 85bhp motor.

Radially mounted monoblock four-piston calipers bite into 330mm floating discs to stop all that mass. At the rear, there's also a single piston caliper and 256mm disc, along with two-channel ABS.
