We get an inside look at Royal Enfield's research and development department in the exclusive Indian website reveal.
The first official photo of Royal Enfield's first electric motorcycle was leaked in India a few days ago. It shows a part of the front end.
Without any technical information, its release came to bind a large number of rumors and information "from the inside" of the Indian press, which in essence, of course, were based on a simple certainty: eventually, all manufacturers will have to switch to electric propulsion.
We saw a classic naked street bike design in the first photo, but now we have fresh info from Bikewale.
Specifically, they publish a sketch whose origins aren't explicitly mentioned, but their validity is implied by how they use it.
It's a future electric adventure bike, with much more modern lines than the Himalayan, but the kinship is definitely there, especially in the fuel tank area.
We don't have any technical specs here, but that's to be expected since it's still a paper design. Using their sources, Bikewale colleagues explain that the electric Himalayan is meant to be a premium proposition with a correspondingly high price to showcase Royal Enfield's technology.
It's expected to happen by 2026 with the presentation of a prototype, followed by a production model 2-3 years later.
The story doesn't contradict what we read and tell about the other electric model, which is in a more advanced phase of development since a prototype is being photographed.
Both pieces of news have similar timelines, with Royal Enfield working on the second half of this decade in both cases.
