Off-roaders with a retro aesthetic are flooding the market from both old and new manufacturers. Previously, motorcycles had to be customized to create them, but today, everyone can ride a motorcycle with old aesthetics and modern technology.
The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Vent opened its doors in 2017, making it relatively new to the industry. Known for its beginner-friendly builds and off-road motorcycles, the brand also sells bicycles and mopeds. During EICMA, the brand showcased some enticing models that are sure to attract novices and veterans alike.
In spring 2023, the X-Rude 125 is expected to hit showrooms. The Vent X-Rude 125 is a neo-retro scrambler in essence. Due to its 125cc enduro platform, the X-Rude is actually capable off-road, unlike most scramblers.
Therefore, it offers a similar riding feel to that of a dual purpose motorcycle, but with some of the retro charm associated with scramblers. As it "writes" well on camera, the X-Rude appeals to both experienced off-road riders and today's Instagram-obsessed youth.
Vent X-Rude has a 124.7cc, liquid-cooled, Euro 5 single-cylinder engine with variable timing - this is the same engine that Yamaha uses in the MT-125 and XSR125 with variable valve timing.
In spite of Vent's refusal to reveal performance figures, its engines are known to produce 15 horsepower - right at the limit of the A1 license. Moreover, the Vent is claimed to have an impressive fuel economy of 50 kilometers per gallon.
On the front, it has an inverted fork and dual-purpose tires on spoked wheels 19 inches wide and 17 inches wide.
The front and rear disc brakes measure 290mm and 220mm, respectively. In compliance with European safety regulations, the X-Rude is equipped with CBS (combined braking system) instead of ABS. By spring 2023, Vent will launch the X-Rude 125 on the European market. Retail price is estimated at 5,000 euros.
